CONSTRUCTION UPDATES - 10/20Cherry Avenue Ext. Multi-Use Path construction remains in the final phase with the contractor and subcontractors addressing remaining work. This includes: sign installations, ADA ramps and pad installation, and activation of the crossing signal at Kenwood Avenue. The contractor is expected to complete construction by the end of October and the path is expected to be open for public use by the first week of November.
Drivers should expect right lane closures on Cherry Avenue outside of the morning and evening commute. Weekly updates on the construction activity and schedule will be posted here and to the Featured News section of the Town website.
PROJECT DETAILSWith funding support from a NYSDOT Transportation Alternatives Program Grant, the Town of Bethlehem and Creighton Manning Engineering worked with residents to design a multi-use path along the east side of Cherry Avenue Extension, between Kenwood Avenue and New Scotland Road. The path will connect pedestrians and cyclists in neighborhoods adjacent to Cherry Avenue Extension with the Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail and businesses located along New Scotland Road. A public meeting was held on Dec. 12, 2023 at Bethlehem Town Hall. The meeting presentation and video recording can be found here. Please provide your feedback on the project by completing this form by December 31, 2023. View the Final Design Plans and Final Design Approval Document for specific information about the design.
